Sadly this update is non-compatible with the 7DII.... egad...

Yes, that does seem odd.

Firmware update is now available.

  1. It has ensured compatibility with Canon’s in-camera Lens Aberration Correction function, which enables correction matching the optical characteristics of the attached lens.
  2. It has corrected the phenomenon that abnormal images appear or operation errors occur when Canon’s in-camera Lens Aberration Correction function is enabled.
  3. It has improved the AF speed in certain combinations with some cameras.

Thanks for sharing.

I had a hard time finding it. Had to visit the Sigma global site.

I'm curious if you can see a difference in AF speed.

I tried it on my 6DII this morning and have not tried on my other bodies. AF was very fast, but I have a hard time distinguishing between fast and very fast. I have never had a problem with AF speed on my 6D and 6DII. 70D is noticeably slower. Bigger help for me is CA correction is enabled in DPP which is what I use most.

Has anyone that has done the new firmware update noticed any AF improvement?

I have an old 7d and I’m wondering if the update will do anything positive.
Or negative.

Thanks.

The benefits of the above lens fw update will not be realized with any eos body outside of the stated 'supported' ones, including the 7DII. I upgraded because heck, why not. The lens will work fine and who knows, maybe there will be a small benefit but I don't anticipate an improvement.

Its a bummer because the 7DII & sig 150-600 is a popular duo.

I've only been using it on my A7 Mark III so sadly i cannot comment on the AF performance on my 7D II

Just received this bad boy from the B&H Deal Zone from yesterday. Looking forward to posting some shots.

Has anyone take this lens to a professional sporting events and had problems with the venue allowing you to use it?

I would love to take it to Yankee Stadium. I'll have to see if there is any info online about any restrictions.

I can't comment for the lens but I went to Yankee stadium a few weeks ago and got in with my 5Div, 16-35L, 24-70L & 85mm lenses. They didn't blink an eye.

As a tourist I was a little more worried about not getting in - it's not like I could have popped home to stow my kit!
