We spent most of this past winter "snowbirding" on the Carolina coast. We walked the beach every day and quite often there were pelicans fishing along the surf line. Watched in real time when pelicans dive on fish they always look ungainly to me, almost like they are crashing. But after making a few still captures it was obvious that they are in perfect control. So I took it as a challenge to get a full sequence which demonstrates the anatomy of a dive. It took a few tries to get a full sequence in focus and with no wings clipped. But here is a result.
