I will get the 100-400 at some stage, interesting that sigma have just released 60-600 so will see what those reviews look like.

The key fact is I need to get out more :)

yea I think you will find that the 100-400 is going to be better than the sigma 60-600. Just by going on that focal length I think it's safe to say it's not going to be the best.

right back from an afternoon at karekare ….. lets just say when you take your family …… kiss the good light goodbye "we cold, we board. we hungry" I think that's why they say landscape photography is a solitary pursuit.

So tried a few things, composition is way harder than you think. Find your subject of interest then compose the shot to make it interesting ……. way easier for painters than photographers.

Photos later.

Its way better than I normally take ……… the only foreground and leading lines I had was the waves. Again learning not to center my main subject. I do like the 16:9 format

Actually with such a strong subject like that and on the top third line you can loose the left hand side and have it central.

It works because it's so strong and simple. Nice work.

That "rock/island" has some great texture/structure to it, at the top its full of greens and yellow plant life. I did try a center one but wasn't happy with it.

I’d like to see that with a bit more breathing space at the top. Looks good though.

very good - I like that more than the previous one, possibly as the waves are more defined...

I had an ephinany this evening :) ……….. I realise why I centre my horizon. My original plan was to crop images depending on while I liked better sky or what ever the other half was, but never actually did it, until recently when I started doing the 16:9 crop over the out of camera format. Only took 10 yrs to figure that out ……..
