Check specs on what is included in printer box and it specifically states Setup Cartridges. I just set one up and it was for sure setup cartridges. Did not mean to cause confusion but I was under impression when I ordered it had full size cartridges as on previous promotions on printers but alas not so but clearly stated on specifications on Adorama link.

I am not aware of many printers that offer full retail cartridges shipped with the device.

While the carts are marked as 'setup', they are identical to 'standard' cartridges in every way except the label: Size, weight, etc.
The included carts are the ones made specifically for packing with new printers, while the others are made for the retail market.
This has been discussed extensively at the PrinterKnowlegde forum.

You are not mistaken the cartridges are not so called starter cartridges. I have purchased at least twelve of these printers just for the
ink sets. Before doing this I checked a regular retail cartridge against a printer supplied one on a balance scale weight was identical.

Checked the specs on B&H and Adorama no mention of starter cartridges. For the record the cartridges that I checked were both still
sealed.

I’ve bought four of these Pro-100 machines and they all came with standard-sized cartridges...no matter if I bought them from B&H or Adorama.

The replacement cartridges I have bought from Amazon and Canon (or even eBay) are the same size as the ones that come with the machine—sans the retail packaging.

I think some Epsons come with set up carts but I'm not sure that is correct for Canon. To my knowledge they are full carts.

Setup in this case means they install some useless software. As to the ink, it's all there. You can look at the carts before you install them and see the ink levels.

Not true.

As per my above post:

While the carts are marked as 'setup', they are identical to 'standard' cartridges in every way except the label: Size, weight, etc.
The included carts are the ones made specifically for packing with new printers, while the others are made for the retail market.
This has been discussed extensively at the PrinterKnowlegde forum.

The carts supplied with a new printer differ only in the label marking.
Even the chips are identical.

Adorama link state "Setup Cartridges" B&H on Pro 100 states 8 Ink Cartridges including 3 monochrome. Just Saying not being argumentive. I assume reason B&H is higher on promotion item.

I have no authoratative knowledge of the situation, but it may be that each and every of the PRO-100 printers are packed with a set of cartridges which are marked "setup" on the label, while the retail carts do not have such a nomenclature.

But to reiterate: The 'setup' carts are indeed identical to the retail variants
with exception to the top label. Included carts are labeled "setup" while retail carts are not.
That is the only difference in terms of physical properties including size, construction, weight
of empty/full...

If there are any doubts, simply search the Pro-100 and CLI-42 threads in the Canon section
of the PrinterKnowledge forums.
The only difference which has been suggested is that chips on "setup" marked carts
may not allow use of Canon's Image Garden software if reset, but there seems to be
no conclusive agreement on this.

I received my pro-100 a week ago and really like it a lot. Setup (wireless) was super easy. Prints look exactly as on the screen, I haven’t wasted a single sheet yet, every print is a keeper. Canon Pro Luster and Semi-Gloss photo paper are great for showcasing sharpness and detail. I ordered precision colors ink refill with modified cartridges. I just learned that borderless printing is not recommended so I decided to print 8x10” using 8.5x11” paper and 12x18” using 13x19” paper. Besides, 12x18” frames are 3x cheaper than 13x19” (rare size).
