Nice one Rob.. Yesterday I had a Red-Belly fly into the yard, just a Juvi, He wanted so bad to give me a shot but in the end moved on I think. I rarely see them here.. and only in the fall migration.

I have that luck with Pileated Woodpeckers. We have a couple around, I hear them but rarely see them. They never come around to the suet feeders either, I hear a few do go to suet feeders but not ours. I would love to have more opps to photograph them. The red bellies are a bit more common here, but they are still skittish, movements must be slow.

I have a couple family's around and see them in the spring more with the young but I don't try and seek them out here. But I do like to hunt them more in the bush going from tree to tree in the rotting hardwoods.. They seem very abundant here.

Both shots are really nice Steve, but the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet takes the cake...super job.

Thanks for the comment Mike!

Just back from Spain with a few good finds. This one's a Red-necked Nightjar.

Great shot! I don't know how you saw her to even shoot this!

Holy wow! How on earth did you find that?

Well, I guess we got lucky, as, the first day, we accidentally flushed it from its roost while looking for a dragonfly. Since they often/usually come back to the same spot, we tried again the next day and there it was, although it was difficult picking it out amongst the leaf litter and once you took your eye off it, it was hard to find again.

Thank you Mike:-) You have done well to be able to keep up with this thread while offering such nice feedback! This thread really has taken off (no pun intended.....maybe)

Talk about capitalizing on a perfect opportunity!

God was trippin' when he made these. Frequent visitors to our deck and the palms in the garden, the ever-mischievous, ever-noisy and ever-argumentative Rainbow Lorikeet.

I once watched a pair of these having a squabble in a huge Gum Tree. One was hanging from a branch by one leg, upside down, while the other pecked at its toes to make it let go.

Love the splash of color these create on the light colored branches :-)

The soft light and color are spot on!

Daniel the Bluethroat contrasts beautifully with the yellow flowers here!
