Peggy's Cove must be a carefully managed place.

Really don't know whether those are a set up or not. I tend not to think so. There seems to be a number of working fishing boats there and I understand it's an active fishing village, but there are just so many great photo ops. Here's is a few more. All my photo's at Peggy's Cove were captured just 11 days ago on a very cloudy and occasionally drizzly late afternoon.

They do look a little more worn. I don't know if they are even used. Set up for tourist photos?

I was there in 2004, and there are similar-looking boats in my pic, but I don't know if they are the same ones.

Those images reminding me about my vacations once in Scotland back in 2007, nice images.

The Tamron 18-400 mm lens has limitations, especially at 400mm It only has 2.5 stops of stabilization, and at 400 mm it tends to be a bit soft in the middle and much softer at the edges. However, growing familiarity with it has allowed me to compensate for those deficiencies to a certain degree by choosing my shots carefully and judicious use of post processing in DXO PhotoLab. The first pair of images from Digby NS. were taken at the same location at both 18mm and 400mm so the extremely long distance from me to the ship is fairly obvious. I could barely make out the ships details with the naked eye. Its not a terribly good picture at 400mm and required some work in PhotoLab, but considering the distance and that it was handheld with this moderately priced lens, its about the best I could expect.

I have always liked telephoto landscape shots.

Lunenburg is a Unesco world heritage site. Just over 250 years old. It was pretty cool. Did you get to Mahone Bay?

Is that cannon from the Citadel?

Yes we did . but it was overrun with tourists and tour buses. It was impossible to get any clean shots of anything there so I just didn't try.

Yes it is. and here is another one of a different cannon taken at 35mm. Again, not a great lens, but it sure is convenient on vacation.

Hah! I love the analogy. Take a look at my image of the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove and that's exactly what it looks like. Every where we went the selfie brigade was out in force. No one seems to just want images of where they've been. They only want self-absorbed snapshots of themselves standing in front of, and obscuring, some beautiful view. I often had to spend considerable time, especially at Peggy's Cove, to get clean shots without people walking through them.
