Very nice light and colour. A different perspective from the norm at that location. Well done!

Thank you

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse morning sunrise @500mm.

QUOTED IMAGE

Hi John, I would try to express my fascination evoked by your photo. What I like most is the overall composition, bands of colors and this tiny light inside the lighthouse. Can I ask you how have you achieved this, i.e. how many shots of this subject have you done or has it been just one perfect at once?

Thank you for your kind comments. Sorry I took so long to respond.

I had to go back in my archives to find this series. It was actually taken back in October 2013 and I can remember the day well. It was a pretty wet scramble to get down to the shoreline across boggy areas and of course I did not wear my rubber boots.

I was hoping to catch the lighthouse backlit with a red cloud reflection sunrise.

This did not work out as I expected as the fog was very dense just a short distance offshore and what at first glance might appear to be cloud is actually fog. The picture is a fairly heavy crop and was created out of a series of 5 shots (I was trying some HDR editing). The actual amount of shots that I took that morning was 58 and for the life of me I can't remember if I actually intended to capture the light or it was just lucky happenstance. LOL

I have taken numerous photos of Peggy's from the traditional side with the setting sun and have indeed done shoots where I intentionally captured the light as it rotated.

Thanks once again for your kind words and glad you like the shot. Take care,

John
