I've started to digitizing a lot of my old Negatives (and also my Father and Grand Fathers slides). (Photographing them against a Light Box)

I'm using Camera Raw to process them
When processing them I need to invert them.
No problem, I've done a preset for inverting blacks/whites in the Tone Curve.

But one of the things I need to do to most of my images is adjusting each channel (Red, Green Blue), basically pulling in the end points to where the Histogram starts.

Since each image looks different this is not a set point, this is a point that needs to be adjusted for each image (and channel).

Is there anyway of automating this? Or do I need to do this manually on EVERY image?

Hold down the ALT or OPTION key in ps when you click the auto button on the curves adjustment and it will permit you to set the auto method. You can choose the method that works best for your application and make an action that you can apply to a batch of images.

I was hoping not to open every image in PS, since I am using Camera Raw...

You don't have to open the images, just run a batch operation on them once you are done whatever it is you do in ACR - you can assign the action you create in PS to the batch operation.

ACR is not for image processing, it is for raw conversion.

Well, I need to do this as one of the first steps in ACR and make other adjustments in ACR after doing this.
As a part of the conversion...

If I run them in PS I have to leave the RAW-format, and want to do all my adjustments there before going in to PS.

I think you're stuck then, I'm not aware of a batch method for ACR.

BTW, I'll be in Stockholm in two weeks, hope the weather holds. :)

What does raw give you that 16bit TIFF does not? Again, ACR is a raw converter, not an image processing application. It appears to be constraining your workflow efficiency to the point where an alternative may be more efficient and yield potentially better results in the process. Again, I have no idea what it is that you are trying to do and what adjustments you need to perform, but the dynamic range of a scanned negative is nowhere near that of an actual real-life scene, so ACR seems to be more for convenience than need here.

You can always run ACR as a filter on the RGB file (i.e., TIFF) if necessary to make it more convenient for your approach.

Batch for ACR is not the problem (Open all files, Mark them all and use make the setting).
Its the AUTO part of the Tone Curve that I can not do.

Welcome here. If the weather holds you are going to have great experience!

Quality will propably be the same, but to keep the workflow within ACR would be nice (= do not have to use two different applications, save two different files etc).

Tha Batch-parts is no problem, just that I havn't figured out how to do the Tone Curve Adjustment automatically...

I will be there for work but have free evenings and weekends. Weather seems to be about the same as where I am right now, so not to bad.
