I am totally amazed at how many wonderful shots are continuously posted on this thread, and the few other threads that I currently subscribe too here on POTN. It's overwhelming trying to keep up with all the outstanding images that continuously get posted up here. I've been away for 3 days, and in that time period, I had around 350 notifications to view and try to comment on when I returned late in the afternoon, and turned on my computer. From now until the end of January, I'll be away from my computer four days a week, and as much as I love to comment on many of the fine shots on the various threads, I'm going to have to settle on using the "like" button almost exclusively. I bring this up because I've enjoyed making comments on the many images that really appeal to me, but I simply won't be able to continue doing that...there simply isn't the time. It bothers me considerably, but that's what I'm going to have to do.

You´ll have to hire a secretary….;o)) (...or I and others who have enjoyed your great commitment may "tighten us up" and participate more)

It have been a pleasure to read your comments so far and no matter what you´ll spend your time with in the future, I wish you good luck and all the best…;o))

Thank you Bjarne. I appreciate your nice comments. The secretary idea is great, but my wife said there was no way she was going to do that. She can be so inflexible at times. ;-)a

Found another Black Shouldered Kite I didnt know I had taken until I saw it in Lightroom just before ...Taken a couple of months ago as I remember this was first Kite I got with my new 400mm f2.8 II I had just got and was trying to make it work. Like all new lens additions it took some getting used to especially the narrow DOF when shooting at f2.8. That was probably giving me the most grief because I was continually missing the focus on the eye if the bird was not side on. Infact it was so hard I almost gave up using f2.8 until I decided to do a back/front focus check and found it was out slightly out After adjustment it was better to the point that at f2.8 and f4 with extender my keeper went up from 0 in 20 to maybe 5 in 20 :) In my book that was a quantam leap for me so I stuck with f2.8 but only use it now in light emergencies because its just too hard getting most birds at that aperture setting.

Mind you having said the above the image I posted below you wont find f2.8 on this guy ...Its f8 with an extender ..... but at least I got a sharp eye kind of :)

Cheers

So sharp, wow! I say that the 400/2.8 is well worth its weight and trouble based on this image alone!

Finally found a Red-Headed Woodpecker. The deep red was really hard to work with in post.

Very nice work with the redhead!

The colors of these birds will always captivate me:-)
