It was named Hibiscus petherickii in honour of my wife's grandfather, Edward Raymond Petherick, now an active 91 years old, an amateur botanist and photographer, and long-time pioneer in the area. — Please feel free to offer your thoughts on how I might improve my images —

In the Northern Territory's Top End these flowers will in about 2 months become delicious native fruits, high in vitamin C, related to the lilli pilli. It's found in similar habitats too: permanent freshwater springs and creeks in the Top End's sandstone country.
