That lack of IBIS, though, makes it a less attractive platform to vintage/MF lens users like me. I'm still not in love with the idea of moving to a Sony body, but that might be what I'll do.

The lack of IBIS, while a letdown with regards to vintage/MF glass, is also somewhat of a safe yet conservative move (par for the course for them) in that for a first generation product it means there is one less thing on the body that could potentially malfunction or fail. For example some very early batches of the A7ii had IBIS failure or misalignment issues where the first A7 did not (since there was no IBIS in it). By leaving out IBIS in this generation, they prioritized the dependability of other aspects of the camera. I'm not defending their decision to leave out IBIS, but it's what I see from an engineering perspective which perhaps may have drove their technical and management decision to do what they did.

It's not only vintage glass that benefits from IBIS, some of the new lenses are unstabilized too.

If history has proven anything. it's that evolution always wins!!

What's great about IBIS is that it works for every single lens you put on the camera. I can use any lens I own from my 1960s Canon rangefinder lens, to my modern Olympus lenses and have four stops of image stabilization. It's really great and I don't know if I would buy a new digital camera without it.

This will get me to get my wallet ready .. for a Sony camera.

This is at best on par with the Sony A7R or the A7II, basically 1.5-2 generations behind.

Yup, this spurred me to pick up an A7 II last weekend. Loving it so far.
