Fixed-Lens Photo Challenge #001: New Beginnings
_______________

This week’s topic:
Let's kick off this new challenge and see your interpretations of new beginnings

Remember, if you post a photo, you may be the winner. Be prepared to host and judge a new challenge.

To submit, click the button labeled "POST TO THREAD" and put your photo title in the first line of the post, above your photo. Your camera brand and model must appear in the post. Include additional EXIF data, if you like.

Enter just one photo.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 29 Oct 2018.

Rules

  1. Camera: Any fixed-lens camera, all brands and models. Cell phones are also included. No DSLRs!

  2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible except photos that have won other POTN competitions.

  3. Size: Photo must be no less than 800 pixels and no more than 1600 pixels on the longest side, with no borders.

  4. Postprocessing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

  5. Photo Display: Photos must appear in this thread to be eligible.

  6. Commenting: No commenting on photos by anyone, including the photographer. Once the winners are declared, photographers can add comments to their images and everyone is invited to discuss. The host and others may also post photos after the winners are announced.

    Hosting

    1. The challenge host is the winner of the last challenge.

    2. As soon as possible after your win is announced, start a thread in the Competitions forum with this title: Fixed-Lens Challenge #XXX: Subject.

    3. Soon after noon GMT on the next Monday, post your choices for first, second, and third place. No ties, please. Comments on the photos are nice but not required.

    4. If the winner can't be contacted and doesn't respond by Wednesday noon GMT, the second-place winner will host the challenge. If both are unavailable, the third-place winner will host.

Schedule

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:
  • New Topic: As soon as possible after winning.
  • Posting Starts: Right after topic is announced.
  • Posting Stops: Monday noon GMT.
  • Winners Announcement: As soon as possible, max. until Tuesday noon GMT.

Well I think the first Fixed Lens Challenge was successful & many thanks to all who helped kick this off, participated in the discussions & posted photos. You sure made it difficult to judge & even now, I am still on the fence.

First Place: Just Whistle. That big tuft of fluff in his beak made it for me.

Seond Place: roses75. I am a sucker for a fledgling

Third Place: Jim Askew. And also a sucker for a baby :p So cute!

Over to you, Lesley.

Congratulations to Just Whistle and Roses75 and thanks Mo for the 3rd Place nod :-)

This was a great start for our new and wide open camera Challenge contest...if my math is correct I counted 7 different camera models used in this challenge.

Many thanks to Mo for pulling this all together for us and for hosting the inaugural run :-)

Great entries by all!
