I haven't been able to locate a second-hand outlet either that does not have prices bordering on the insane. There's a shop an hour and a half away I once went into to wander around, but everything is locked up and they were exceedingly unfriendly and snooty about letting me touch anything. I felt like a tourist asking for a cheese sandwich in a Michelin restaurant! There should be opportunities to acquire gear while on trips. Years ago gear was quite a bit cheaper in France than in Canada, and I took advantage of that at the time on visits. Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F

It's a pain, to be sure.

KEH.com is a store that specializes in used and they rate the condition and give a warranty. That makes their customers like me feel extremely comfortable ordering used bodies/lenses sight unseen. I can return it if there are any issues. That's brilliant. There are some stores in the UK like that but I am not sure if their kindness extends to overseas customers. I should ask.....you never know.
