damn you..... preordered

Your welcome.

Literally the only thing that attracts me to this lens is it's sunstars. From the samples/reviews I've seen it's got some hefty barrel distortion. I don't even shoot uwa that much. Let alone have I ever shot this 'ultra ultra stuff".

but at least the pre-orders for 50 units gets a free filter holder lol...

well, I love UWA, but I folded to the sunstars as well, I didnt think it would be that good, and one of reasons I went back to the voigtlander 21 was for the sunstars.... with this zoom, that will be on hold. 18mm on the long end is sort of ridiculous, but if it works out, I'll sadly sell off my 12-24, which has been very good, just really lacking when it comes to sunstars.

Yup... completely agree. I literally just got the 12-24 but it's a bit short for what I would end up using it for. My only solution is the GM and this 10-18.

I had my kit figured out with Canon... I was pretty stable for a long time on gear. For me thats about a 2 year period I didn't really do much on buy/sell like I did prior. This sony stuff has thrown me back into a huge mix of emotions.

I can completely understand why people levitate to lighter lenses after switching to sony. I love the 28-75 but that is more of a lens for my wife.. and I plan to use it on vacations and such but it does suffer from some rather ugly bokeh compared to the stuff I've seen from the GM options.

I figure I have several more lens tryouts before I settle into what I like. One thing for sure though is my 85/200 combo is my goto setup for anything planned non vacation.

My newly discovered F4 landscaping kit.
Well I just remembered I have the FE 70-200/4.
Found it while assembling gears for the New Mexico trip. Poof tells
me we'll be at the Sonoran-Desert Museum where they have raptor free flights.
Not free as in no charge to get in, but free as in the bierds have no tethers.
Thus the need for a closer focal length.

Then I began scheming=
FE 16-35/4
FE 24-105/4
FE 70-200/4

Even neater there're all here and I can find them :)

Anyone using the iPhone 6? Do you find the camera flares like crazy? I have an iPhone SE but was given a 6 and thought I was going to change to it but when I hold it up in the house it’s flaring like crazy with the light from the tv and lamps to the point where I don’t want to switch

I have an iPhone 6. I haven’t noticed a flare issue too much, but I find the IQ mediocre unless I’m in really good light.

Gee, it's only a six + hour drive to Tucson. Maybe I should try to meet you there. ;-)a

Heck, I'm lucky to make it as far as the market anymore.

Sounds like another great trip

Wanted to wait until sunset, but I'm pushing myself to go out more and not restrict myself to "ideal" conditions.

I may have a big trip next year, and I love scheming for it :p

A concern I have is the loss of light, 4.5-5.6.... that's up to 1 stop of light. Not sure if I will do much low light street shooting, but plausible. Either way, I will be happy to experiment.

Poof fell in love with petroglyphs Gene and I think I mentioned I could spot them well before she could....and
her vision is way better than mine. So we've got 3 places scheduled to view them, and one mentioned prior I'm
actually interested in=Dinetah. Three Rivers per Eriet's recommendation and the tourist site Petroglyph National Monument
outside/inside Albuquerque .
She's letting me do my bierd thing at Bosque and that museum mention prior.
Other than that we'll just enjoy tooling around the state and hitting up BLMs for hopefully some cool boondocking
sites for the camper.
Got the BF Goodrich All Terrains put on yesterday, one more lighting package off the the side, and fill up the propane
tank and we are ready.

If you do get a wild hair and head to Tuscon let me know, we'll adjust our travel schedule :)

Realised today the built in little lens cover is actually cracked so that’s why it’s flaring.

Seeing the light is one of the most important skill to learn in photography. My favorite from yesterday. Stay tune for more.

Waiting for some side by side testing against the Batis 25 before I switch to it. My plan is to replace the Batis 25 and my Samyang 24 into the one lens
