If your income depends on it, then it's another case.

Nov 02, 2018 09:37 | #4677 How good can you crop with the 1DX2? I have a very good location for vultures but they will be all at quite a distance, the maximum I can go to with my current gear is 600mm using a 2x convertor with my 300mm 2.8 lens. Canon R6 II, RF 800mm.

The 1Dx II is ~20MP. If you took a 1.6x crop from the centre of the frame (mimicking an APS-C field of view) you'd get roughly 20 / 1.6^2 = 8MP. That would have approx 3,400 pixels on the long edge; good enough for a 22" wide print at 150dpi. The field of view would be roughly equivalent to 960mm (600 * 1.6); though given you're already using a 2x TC you may be pushing your luck with a further heavy crop. Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent
