Tim, I'm trying very hard to not buy this camera and you're not helping.

To be honest, these images, of people standing very still, you can shoot with something cheaper too.

I have a little over 40 weddings on this 1Dx2

People say that you dont need a 1D AF system for weddings

I strongly disagree

I cant miss shots like this. This camera has NEVER MISSED A PROCESSIONAL SHOT. Servo is so good on these 1D bodies but the 1Dx2 is phenominal. It simply does not miss. think about that. 40+ weddings and its never missed a processional shot

If you knew how many times the focus point went to the light behind the couple on the 5D3 and 5D2 bodies. I got the 1Dx2 before the 5D4 release and I just cant shoot a processional unless its on the 1Dx2. Just does not miss

Look to the right in your picture and see what you can use...

I can modify my statement to that people standing still, you can usually shoot with just about any camera. If your income depends on it, then it's another case.

How good can you crop with the 1DX2? I have a very good location for vultures but they will be all at quite a distance, the maximum I can go to with my current gear is 600mm using a 2x convertor with my 300mm 2.8 lens.

The 1Dx II is ~20MP. If you took a 1.6x crop from the centre of the frame (mimicking an APS-C field of view) you'd get roughly 20 / 1.6^2 = 8MP. That would have approx 3,400 pixels on the long edge; good enough for a 22" wide print at 150dpi. The field of view would be roughly equivalent to 960mm (600 * 1.6); though given you're already using a 2x TC you may be pushing your luck with a further heavy crop.

EDIT: Though I see from your sig that it's the 300mm f/2.8L II. That is a very sharp lens, so maybe OK with the 2x TC.

I sure will miss my 1DxII, but I have moved on.

Does anyone need a couple "like new" Lexar (3600X, 540MB/s) 128GB C-Fast cards? If so, shoot me a PM. This is all I have left from my beloved 1DxII.
