Lt. Colonel,

I've seen this problem (1) with large SDXC devices that are not compatible with the camera; or (2) were later formatted by the computer incompatibly, because a format like ExFAT was used at that time, which is OK for the computer, but not the camera.

If you try formatting with the camera, using a smaller SDHC device (16GB or smaller), success may point to this assertion being true.

Hope this helps, gets you some answers.

Kindly,
M

Wow, you were right. It will format up to and including 32 GB, but will not format the 64.

Thank you.

I could have sworn that I'd used 64's before.

Glad you were able to get to the bottom of this.

I believe I've experienced the same thing with my 1D Mark III. It'll accept up to a 32GB SD card, but it also accepts up to a 64GB CF card.

Post away, or even PM them across, pretty please with bells on. A club i shoot for has started playing under lights on Saturdays and my mkIII won't run that high. It's either mkIV or 7d and i can get the mkIV cheaper than 7d plus grip. My 6d is missing too many shots either from focusing or fps.
