A couple with the EOS R and the Canon 100mm F2.8 L IS macro lens, they seem to play well together.:-)

Cheers

Nice job.

wish I had some good things to take pictures of. My pictures, while technically good, are boring because of boring subjects. Michigan sucks; it's always dark and boring.

It is. Yesterday I was taking pictures of my shoes, and my kitchen faucet running water from different distances. My kitchen faucet was never photographed so well. Shall I post those for your enjoyment? lol.

I've been using SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC cards, just because I have a couple and they have worked fins so far, although I haven't shot any 4K Video, where I believe the Version II may be recommended when shooting at the higher quality 4K setting.

Cheers

I've been using this Lexar with zero wait time for anything. About 47 images to hit the buffer I think. I'll try my other Sandisks as well

Thank you for explaining. I think I have a couple extra cards similar. So I may have every accessory covered now that I ordered the adapter rings. I ordered both the control ring adapter and basic EF > RF adapter to have a spare in case contacts go funky someday.

RE the SQUIRREL photos above, the examples look great. Also makes another case for JPG backup via Wifi.

The closeup is sure nice to look at. I hadn't really noticed before fur color difference under the leg or "elbow" area where it's more orange brown. I'm guessing the droplets were flung from the tail.

Having multiple adapters also allows you the luxury of just keeping the adapters on the EF lenses as you switch lenses between RF and EF/EFS. If Canon had made the basic adapter a bit cheaper, they would have made up the loss in profit with volume. 3rd party adapters will be out shortly though. If an adapter was $40, and I had 3 or 4 lenses I would use with the Canon mirrorless, along with a few RF lenses, I would just buy 3 or 4 of the adapters to never worry about "where is my adapter" and "I have to add/remove the adapter all the time as I switch glass".

These look sooo good, Jeff.
Have you tried BIF already maybe?

I'm watching you closely at the moment as I am ready to buy something new for a change (instead of always buying used). I feel my 1DIV is getting long in the tooth and it seems to get heavier every year too... I like what I'm seeing from the EOS R. I don't care about video or that it only has one card slot. Only thing I worry about is shooting action like BIFs. It won't do a lot of FPS, I know that, but will it at least track a bird well? I mean if you get 3 to 5 FPS whilst tracking and you would miss every other shot, then that would be bad. This is my only worry.

lol funny Richard hehe

I have never owned a camera that has such clarity and detail with such small noise..

Exposing smartly makes it almost to easy..

There is not much I can or need to do in lightroom lol ... My small edit and crop on a different image..

He's a good text subject... lol

Try reading through this post... So between the learning curve, and the blackout between shots in a burst (ok it isn't a blackout, but it might as very well be, showing a black screen or the last shot taken has the same effect), it seems it is capable to an extent, but not the greatest tool in the shed for BIF. I expect much of the same during sporting events where players are constantly moving around in front of each other, and I would like to just track one player. The EOS-R supports the 3 sliders that lie under today's "AF Cases", but it doesn't seem to allow me to store more than one configuration and swap between them for different activities during a game.

I eagerly await the pro version, hopefully it is a sports oriented camera. After having shot the M50 over this past week, I love what mirrorless brings to the table for those times where I am relaxed and have time to think about my shot, or use manual lenses.

I suspect you will like the camera more than you will dislike any shortcomings with it based on what you shoot. :) Plus shooting at 800mm f11 with AF is a huge plus, something not very practical with the Canon DLSRs now.

It will be tough to buy the EOS-R for 4K usage that is for sure. This video shows some really bad 4K samples, some are saying that it looks like Canon is doing 2K and upscaling the video.

Thanks, Cary. A "slide show" during continuous shooting would be most annoying. And as there's no mirror to flip back I don't quite get why there would be a blackout. Still, I want to change my set up and have few options, except switching brands, which I don't want to do. I had hoped to trade in both my 1DIV and 1DIII, add some cash and get the EOS R. But I might decide to actually trade in the 1DIV and keep the 1DIII for BIFs. The 1DIV is worth more and my 1DIII is truly excellent. I haven't used it once since I got my 1DIV but I do love that camera. And I don't shoot a lot of BIFs. Just swallows in the summer basically. But those are hard to shoot birds and somehow I doubt the EOS R is up to it. But for all other types or bird photography (as well as the rest!) I think the EOS R will do fine. But I'll wait until Spring next year anyway, hoping the price will come down a bit.

As to not having AF with a 2xTC right now, well, I have a Kenko just for that. It's pretty good too. Problem is there's hardly ever enough light for that over here...

The EOS R will backup to anything you like including your Phone... I have a 256g iPhone and the camera can and will backup the jpeg as you shoot if you wish.. works awesome.!!

I love the ring.. I can reach over the top with my finger and adjust iso on the fly so you have all three covered, shutter, iso, aperture, at the same time. used it today... so cool.

lol and thats snow on the squirrel lol I know I know... snow already.. lol

Ummmm there is no real black out... If you shut off preview and turn on high speed display... its just like shooting a Dslr...

I think guessing at what it might be is only causing misunderstanding .... The 4k and 30 frames can be set at C3 so with one push of the record button instantly starts recording at your desired settings.... One more push and your back to where ever you left off... for me mostly thats in manual and its all right where I was before the movie recording..

The 1080p at 60 or 24 frames is way more than most including myself needs.. with dual pixel AF nothing and I mean nothing is out of focus. I've never have such a good video recording in my life and I started in the 80's.

All the bull on youtube is just that... Bull
