I understand - but I was just pointing out that equipment should not be your obstacle to joining in Most of my macro work is done with a compact Canon S120 and achromats - like the two photos below. Sure, the results aren't as good as others, but it does at least let me get close to the results I'd like to achieve. My apologies if you thought I was being condescending, I didn't mean that at all. Peace.

Not taken as being condescending at all, so no worries. If we had been talking face to face there would have been no question, so thanks for trying to avoid a potential misunderstanding. Much appreciated and all is well on this end. Those two photos you offered are GREAT. I'd like to get closer and more detail than I can get right now but at the same time I'm impressed at how close I can get with what I have. A true macro lens is in my future... I just don't know how soon.

Nothing special compared to your awesome shots, but it's my little contribution.

Doesn't even begin to compare to others in this thread but here it is anyway.
Happy to accept suggestions for improvement.
(I was hand holding the camera, the web was swaying in the breeze, and the spider was moving--aargh!)

Funny story, spent all morning looking for critters with my new 5dm4. Went inside to go to loo, felt something in my hair, brushed it off. This little guy fell on the floor. Pulled up strides with one hand while balancing spider on other hand, grabbed camera and fumbled one handed to remove lens cover, turn on setup etc. couple of quick snaps and safe release onto bush. No flash yet, waiting on postman.

Me too. Relate to that, I mean. Typically I have my hands full of a myriad of stuff when an insect calls. Sigh

Like this shot immensely, the back story makes it even more enjoyable

This one isn't current but the web is in pretty good shape, unlike my current photos. Apparently the spiders in my yard have become less competent.
