These are from some years ago. Apparently it is an assassin bug (?). It was in the backyard and I haven't seen one since.

Yeah, looks like a wheel bug. And it looks like it is snarled in a spider web.

Ahh, I didn't realize that. I thought it was hanging from its own thread. Shows what I know (not much!). Probably an old web from one of the MANY orb-weavers around. I was on a riding lawn mower and nearly hit it with my face. Of course, I used to do that with the large spider webs as well (they would stretch from tree to tree).

Yeah, looks like part of a derelict web to me. Still dangerous to passing bugs, I think. Hopefully your wheel bug managed to break free.

I have befriended a Paper Wasp who has chosen a Sacred Bamboo bush for his nest location, in our back garden.:-)

Found one more of the wheel bug in my flickr account. Guess he did escape from the web.

That's a nice wheel bug portrait!

I wonder if it ate the spider...

Very interesting! Never seen a millipede up close like that before. Looks like the ant is dealing with a tiny dead spider.

I got a cheap Chinese finite objective just to play with as I've never used any objective before. I didn't expect any great images and I wasn't disappointed..........these lens not of any real use but I needed to get my feet wet as it were. This is the second attempt.

Canon 7d with 10x finite objective
Bellows W/ EF12 &25 extension tubes
Shotstacker @30um for 34 images
3 speedlites @ 1/128th power

Any and all comments welcome.........and advice when it comes to using an microscope objectives.

One problem is the red that keeps appearing which I've surmised is the speedlites talking to each other. How do I eliminate this?
