Spencerphoto Goldmember More info Post edited over 4 years ago by Spencerphoto. | Oct 28, 2018 16:02 | #156 PermanentlyA Vauxhall Firenza! I haven't seen one of those for many years. If I recall correctly (unlikely these days) the most famous racing Firenza was a heavily-modified version called 'Big Bertha' that was raced by Gerry Marshall back in the '70s. A real fire breather! 5D3, 7D2, EF 16-35 f/2.8L, EF 24-70 f/2.8L II, EF 24-105 f/4L, EF 70-200 f/2.8L II, EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L II, EF 1.4x III, Sigma 150mm macro, Lumix LX100 plus a cupboard full of bags, tripods, flashes & stuff.

I’ve only recently taken up photography a bit more seriously after toying with it over the years and have upgraded my gear to give motorsports a good go this season for the first time. So feedback is important to me. Weather was good, grunged the image up using a HDR app. Sometimes it works other times it doesn’t, a bit “marmite” tbh. Here’s the same image and another taken st the same time, processed in LR, auto light setting, vivid colour preset, no crop. You’re right! The British motorsports scene is great, we should appreciate it more.. only really taken advantage form a photography perspective in the last year or so. Half hour from Brands Hatch, 2 hours from Snetterton and Silverstone. I’m really fortunate/lucky that I’m in an active kit car club with a few mates who actively participate in various motorsports, from hill climbs to sponsoring drivers in the British Touring Car series. I should take advantage of the European scene a bit more, maybe next season get over the water a bit more. Thanks again for taking the time to post. First shot looks like you missed focus, seems to be sharp on the rear sprocket, second shot is much better but would benefit from a much slower shutter speed.

Thanks, first one is a touch soft not sure why, fixed centre single point focus selected, with ai servo. Why go slower on the shutter? I Was looking to freeze the shot against the billboard rather than a panning shot.

I just don't think side shots look good with frozen wheels and backgrounds, IMO the point of motorsports photography is to try and show the speed and power of the sport, panning with slower speeds does that.
