Glow 36in EZ Lock Soft Box tear down issue

I know this seems dumb, but can someone tell me how to release the soft box once you open it. My other soft boxes have a button to squeeze to release but this is the second one I've gotten from Adorama that is like this. I thought the first one was a defect but I just got the replacement today and its the same way.

You just pull the deflector plate area that slides along the central shaft back toward you.

Thank you! This one slides out easily. The first one I had did not. I had to use a screw driver to pry it up. I was nervous to push this one down into place.
