I have befriended a Paper Wasp who has chosen a Sacred Bamboo bush for his nest location, in our back garden.:-)

Cheers

My local wasp this afternoon, having a look at the front element of the Canon MP-E at approx. x2 setting.

I copied some out of focus antennae sections in from another frame where they were more in focus.

Cheers

Dennis

Dennis that is amazing.
Really beautiful doesn't really describe it.
Lovely colours and detail
One of the best I've seen. Up there with them.

Thanks Richard, there are only 2 wasps on the small, accessible nest and they seem to tolerate me, providing I set up carefully. The breeze got up today so I had to terminate the session.:-)

Cheers

Great detail! Good stalking, also shows the capabilities of the MP-E. It would be cool to learn more about your lighting.

Sure, here a couple of photos showing the original set up with my old 7D and non-L 100mm lens. The new rig has a few minor mods but is essentially the same, with 7D Mk II and 100mm F2.8L or MP-E.

Cheers

Dennis
