People have to wait for Adobe to update ACR because the sensor is different. This applies to all 3rd party vendors. DPP has this. This link still works.

I'd pay big bucks if there was a version of LR that had Canon's engine.

Nice link. hopelessly out of date list of lenses and bodies, but we get the point :)

Howdy

Have a question to guys with RF 24-105. Is this lens are more fit for landscapes than old 24-70/2.8 (first ver.) ? How about sharpness on 24mm f4 ? Should I change old buddy (24-70) to new one or they pretty the same on wide angles ?

Another shot with the EOS R, RF 24-105L, 10-stop and CPL. Processing was crop, white balance, lens profile, ColorChecker profile, set white point, lightening curve and sharpening.

Wonderful. That's a tree species I want to visit and photograph someday.

Really happy with this camera. The focus is very accurate. Still taking me a bit to get used to a lot of the settings. First shot is with the RF 24-105. Second is with the 50L @ 1.2. I've had the 24-70 f/2.8 L II on there a lot too. Probably the rose color glasses, but everything looks really sharp. The first shot I just hit "auto" in Lightroom. The second one I just adjusted WB.

Edit: I forgot a feature I love. May have been on the 5D's but I don't think so. The auto retract of lenses. I noticed it first when I mounted my 85L and without even turning the camera on, it retracted the front element. So nice to not have to think about it each time I go to put such lenses in storage.

I don't think any 5d dslr had the retract feature that I remember... That would have saved many 50 1.4 lenses.

a thing I noticed was the sensor blind that comes into play when lens removed.
Is that a 'gimmick' or does it actually prevent muck getting on the sensor.
I didn't say anything in store, but wondered what happens to the gunk that gets on the blind and then you put the lens on.
No idea really if I'm rattling on but curious.

I imagine Canon would have thought of what I and many others would ask and wouldn't put it there just for a 'must have feature'.

Have you ever looked inside a sony a9 or a7rIII Richard... makes me cringe at the thought of keeping that sensor clean. I don't think Canon does gimmicks..

Even after dragging my camera's through the bush of Ontario I have never had Gunk LMAO :p:-D Your so funny Richard.

I haven't looked into it, but I'm guessing you can put it in a cleaning mode that will keep the shutters open so you can clean the sensor.

Something else I see that is quite different from other mirrorless cameras - it seems to "know" when the lens cap is on. For one, you don't get a noisy black screen. And second, if you turn the camera off without putting the lens cap on, you get a warning about sun going through the lens to the sensor.

I had to clean the sensor on my A7R2. So I don't think of the sensor shutters as a gimmick at all. Not going to stop 100% of dust and dirt, but I bet it will stop 90-99% of it.

Anything is a help for sure.. Its a great way to help keep the door closed while you do remove some of the tiny aspects that can sometime enter a camera.

I've looked inside my EM5 and do shudder at that gaping open hole.

For the life of me I couldn't imagine it a gimmick, but then wondered about the gunk that does get inside between lens changes.
I did see a message on screen saying Lens Cleaning or similar so assume its standard practise when changing or removing.

Jeff I see gunk has several meaning according to the online expertise. Not sure what that implies. Dirt from this end. :p
