OK, so has anyone had another listen from 18:06?
Am I mistaken regarding my quote that there is an EF roadmap?

You are correct. He says that there is a roadmap for EF and plans for future products.

No, in fact that's what I also pointed out in my first post in this thread and post 78: that also was in response to Ed's stance that the Canon rep "says there is no roadmap point blank". Maybe only people named Dave heard that?

I had to have another listen to make sure, but I heard it a few hours ago when I watched the first time.

It pretty well kills the whole basis of this thread.

Lol. So it is above his pay grade but within yours? These problems start when people talk in absolutes about things that they have no more knowledge of beyond a layman's interpretation of what someone said in one context in one video. Furthermore Canon users have faced all kinds of nonsense, attacks and ridicule from the usual mirrorless suspects here on the forum. I don't see the benefit or rationale in a Canon user creating divides within the user community in the form of dramatic statements that are based on opinion rather than fact. What we know is the mount was just released and Canon wants the system to grow. We can extrapolate from the past and the fact the R supports EF that support will continue for the time being. I think it's ok to say that we don't know the rest. We've got a great new product and tech from Canon. It's a good thing for all Canon users. Can we get together and all be happy about something here?

yeah I am able to think for myself, and I have my plan. my roadmap. if you have some anger with sony fan boys work it out with them. I don't care for them either

there is no roadmap. my takeaway is Canon is putting all its resources into mirrorless bodies and lenses and they will be a huge success.

now If anyone wants to believe that in 2020 or 2021 canon will divide its resources and get back to new DSLRs and and EF lenses more power to them.

I see no reason to assume the rep is fully informed by Canon Inc or telling what he believes to be the complete truth.
However if people are assuming EF is dead due to what the rep said they are just plain wrong.

So do you agree the rep said there is an EF roadmap? (he actually used the word roadmaps)

in an alternative reality Sony will begin producing DSLRs to compete with the Canon roadmap for EF

It is the internet. People say whatever they like. On these forums if it's not political, religious or particularly offensive, anything goes.
There were thousands of words written on POTN regarding what features the 1DS4 would have.
Nikon said that they would never make a full frame DSLR.
If someone has no track record of reliably predicting what manufacturers will or won't do, why pay any attention?

Right, yes, of course, I get exactly what you are saying, and always did get it.

The problem I had was that someone's prediction was written as if it were fact.

In the OP, Mike didn't say that it was just what he predicted - it was mixed up in the same paragraph as quotes from Canon, and appeared to be passed off as some kind of actual information instead of just what he thought.

In the threads such as the 1DS4 one that you mention, it is clear that it is just people predicting things. . There's nothing wrong with that at all. . There is an enormous difference between that kind of post and the kind of post that Mike wrote, where fact and opinion were all mixed together.

When someone is just writing what they think, then in order to write a proper post, they need to specifically write something like, "What I think this means is that in the future, Canon ...... " . . If they don't write it that way, it is no wonder that some people will confuse their prediction with an actual announcement or official statement.

We all need to be extremely careful with everything we write, to ensure that there is no chance that anybody will ever be confused as to our meaning. . Proper spelling, grammar, and sentence structure is imperative to proper communication.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

When do you think Canon will ship a R series that is equivalent or better in specs than the 5DIV?

What about the 1DxII?

Before summer 2019 is my prediction
