Wonderful, sharp close-up shot of that youngster, Richard.

That really is a very beautiful photo.
Yes, the snow and wildlife are synonymous with each other.
Superb photo.
(I remember my first foray into snow with my first digital and the white-balance was so messed up it was atrocious.

It heard my shutter at 40 yards. The 7D MkII shutter in silent mode is pretty soft sounding. Not so snappy as high speed.

They are rather appealing photos. Beautiful animal.
Expect it would come with a not so beautiful noise in the dead of night when you're in a tent miles from nowhere and it lets rip.
Is that what happens?

Yes shooting in the all white is a challenge....

Luckily for me I had the advantage of the 10 frames per second... When I'm talking about such things I just process something..... As I have thousands of these images..

I do believe I may need another 10 fps camera so I can move into 2019 armed and ready.

Does not look like any buzzard that I have seen. Sure it is not a different kind of raptor?

The common buzzard (Buteo buteo) is a medium-to-large bird of prey whose range covers most of Europe and extends into Asia. Over much of its range, it is resident year-round, but birds from the colder parts of the Northern Hemisphere typically migrate south (some well into the Southern Hemisphere) for the northern winter.
