Still a good time to buy the Sony A7r iii?

Anytime is a good time to buy the R3. Prices will continue to drop over time. I paid 2825 brand new from GT back in January and I think can be had cheaper now too. I'm not sure what it would take but Sony would have to do something dramatic to get me to upgrade. I'm pretty confident I'll keep the R3 for a good 3-4 more years and go ahead and skip the R4 and wait for the R5.

I think the biggest improvements they will work on is FPS/Video features. Maybe a swivel out sideways LCD like canon. This would be pretty huge actually.

Going to actually pick one up tomorrow hopefully!

Hi guys. I am still keeping my Canon and Nikon gears so as to wait for full usability of Canikon optics on A7 bodies. Latest price drop of A7rIII to 2800 makes me think it again...plus local Sony gives us a free MC11 or 50/1.8 for the purchase. Is there any updates upon newer firmware 2.0 to use 150-600 class lenses on A7rIII?
BTW Sigma launches a 60-600mm which shows great improvement at 600mm comparing to my 150-600S

Well there was a recent update to the a7riii firmware in addition there was also a recent update to the mc-11 so I updated everything a few weeks ago and happy to say my sigma 150-600C has been performing very well. I was considering the new 60-600 but I don't want the extra weight since I shoot mostly handheld.

I've got the A9 and so torn between the A7III or A7RIII as a travel/2nd body for sports.

Wanted to pop in an update that I picked up an A7R3 for $2410 on Greentoe a week ago, so the price is still falling.

I paid 2840 back at the end of january. Prices are dropping nicely. In another year I suspect they'll be selling for 1800 on the used market. Still a great buy.

One year later, June 2019, I ask the same question... still a good to time to buy Sony A7R3??
