Both of these are really nice...great sharpness.

Thank you, Mike. I am beginning to get pretty comfortable with the new gear.

Dive, come up empty, repeat.

This guy was very entertaining. He did this about ten times back to back. He finally came up with what looked like a clump of seaweed (lakeweed?).

Do you keep VR on for such high shutter speed shots?

These we shot on a tripod, so no VR.

Mike your turning blue... I'm not sure we have turned a corner ... but maybe keep an open mind.... You can teach an old dog new tricks.. It just might have an RF in the new name. Your gona love it.

Jeff...I'm past the point of turning blue. I think I'm passing out. I've just gotta see what the 7DIII is going to be like before making any decisions. I still want to avoid any system that require a big learning curve. I'm too old to fight with cameras bodies that are very different from one another. It's just too confusing when having to make quick decisions while shooting.

I wondered as I am debating - VR on or off for shots over 1/1000sec?

I know many recommend no VR for SS much lower than 1/1000 (some say turn it off above 1/250) for IQ purposes and even to be sure you're locked on where you think you are. Sadly, I need it to keep the image in the VF steady enough to track when hand holding.

On the tripod & gimbal, it's a totally different story.
