...if the EOS R really isn't going to allow me to stick with software I am comfortable with and don't need to have a fixed expense each month to use).

Just so it's clear, you can still use your legacy LR if you're willing to convert your files using Adobe's free DNG converter (which can be used in or out of LR).

Letting the software rule your camera choice is not the right answer either.

Right- Hopefully no one thinks that's a necessary consideration.

I too use nothing but lightroom.. But I've taken to moving the files off the card onto an external hard drive manually, got tired of lightroom messing with my file structor.

Thanks, I should start moving files manually. LightRoom doesn't follow Windows File conventions well and I'm always seem to be putting them in the wrong place.

I know... its frustrating !! I just make a folder and drag the lot in there now. then import from there... No more file miss location...

Can we talk about an elephant in the room that I haven't seen anybody speak about yet?

Canon is actually charging $1 more for the bundle of the 24-105 v. buying the components separately. Insult to injury enough in and of itself, but don't they usually substantially discount the bundled lens when bundled? I mean after all, isn't that the incentive to buy the bundle to begin with??? I get that it's all probably because it's a new lens line, but this is certainly going to "give" at some point, right?

I'm just not sure there's enough incentive here to buy the RF version. I have a 24-105L and I have to buy an adapter anyway. You would think they would incent buying the bundle but alas, here we are.

I noticed the same thing and thought what was the point of going with the kit then?

It seems though that most places are including the lens adapter when you buy the kit, so that makes up for it some. Interesting to note mine came separate in regular retail packaging so may change in future.

Deals on the kit can be had though, check cpricewatch.com that’s how I got mine.

These look exceptional.

I went back to the other two to see what lens, but what lens were you using?

What's the point?

How about not being able to buy the lens by itself until December?

On another note ...

For those chatting about LIGHTROOM ... if the conversation is not specific to the EOS R (THREAD topic), how about starting another thread elsewhere in an appropriate section. The type of files in the EOS R may be worthy of their own thread anyway, since there will probably be more bodies needing the same sort of adapting. You could build and entire thread, then whenever someone mentions the files again and Lightroom here, all it takes is a quick link to a concentrate of solutions.

Right now I can get the EOS R for 2149, which includes a free adapter. Do you think it will get any cheaper than that as it gets closer to Black Friday?

Everything going cheaper with a time. After a year, the R will cost 1500 or less. You want wait or want a camera ? ;)

I was responding to and trying to clarify a member's question specific to the EOS-R and LR, and followed up to be sure my response was understood.
I'll try to keep my future posts on the R in line with your specific interests.

I can only speculate, but I think you put things on sale to give sales a boost, and with the EOS R being so new, I bet they are selling as many as they can make. So no point in discounting it so soon after introduction. (B&H has a nice sale on the 5D MK 4 and 6D Mk 2 however)
