Very nice, Peter.

I had my 1st sighting of a Long-Eared Owl yesterday. They are not common around here.

It was nowhere near as nice as this, but it was really cool nonetheless. :)

This is a male Black Redstart.
It's amazing how birds turn up at exactly the same location year after year.
Taken in The Ford Park Cemetery in the middle of Plymouth Town.

Very nice indeed! I nearly went there myself today since the bird is very near me, but I'd never have got shots this good.

I was thrilled to stumble upon these cross bills high up in the pine trees. The males being red/orange are very well camouflaged against the pine cones. Not easy birds to see in the UK.

Treecreeper

They creep up a tree, fly down to the bottom of the trunk and creep up again repetitively.

I watched the kingfisher dive and catch this fish, unfortunately the light was too poor and my diving photo was blurred.

Water Rail

Such an unusual name for a bird.

A really lovely series of shots.

I love the crisp detail in these shots. There's real "pop" here.

Thank you Jack.....

If you are near Plymouth it's worth a visit.

I spent just over 2 hours looking for this bird. As the afternoon was moving on I was getting concerned that I would not find it. Eventually it turned up on the chapel roof, it saw me and like most redstarts it was very inquisitive to want to check me out and landed on one of the gravestones 20ft from me. As I was positioning myself to get the strong light behind me it was flying around me and was landing almost where I wanted it to. After 10 minutes taking photo's it flew off and turned up again 20 minutes later for less than a minute. In that time I'm certain that there was a second bird although not seen together I could hear them calling to each other and looking back at my photo's the possible 2nd bird appears lighter and not as dark. Difficult to say. Good luck if you go looking for it.

Sadly, this one is horribly cluttered but because it's very rare I had to grab a couple shots. I felt bad trying to photograph him, because I imagine he was trying to hide from the humans.

The brush was crazy thick & blowing in the wind so I had to do the best I could manual focusing, waiting on the wind to open a line of site, bent over, hand held. Not easy for an old fart like me! Lol!
