I currently have this bag and I carry Canon 80D with grip with Tamron 17-50 2.8 mounted, Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 85mm 1.8, 2 PWII, Ipad mini, Canon 580EX, canon charger, 8 extra batteries, extra memory bag, sync cables, light meter, well I take advantage of the available pockets/space when I do a shoot where I can lay my bag somewhere and not worry about it.

But recently have trying to make habit of taking the 80D, 85mm, Tamron 17-50, 4 extra batteries with 580EX depending if where I am going is low light environment otherwise will not bring if workable lighting, canon battery charger, Ipad mini, extra memory card. Would anyone be kind to suggest a messenger type bag? Reason is that I don't mind taking my current bag but don't always have the camera around my neck, which the neck strap is starting to bother me. I just think the messenger type will allow me easier/faster access. But wouldn't shut down the idea of another backpack either.

Did see if not mistaking, a Think Tank pouch where one could place memory cards, cables, etc. Just can't find the link anymore. Saw it on Amazon. Thanks in advanced.

I found this one:
https://www.amazon.com …ords=think+tank+organizer (external link)

To be honest, don't know what brands to stay away from or what are good brands if it really matters to bags.

I am using the Tenba Messenger. You may want to consider Thinktank series like the Citywalker 30 (think it is discontinued)

 :p

One of the disadvantages I have is that there is limited camera stores near where I stay where I can see certain items to help make a decision. Such as in this case a messenger bag. There is mom and pop store but their inventory is very limited.

That would be difficult as choosing a bag is kinda of a personal preference and choice....
I would highly recommend the Think Tank series (CityWalker, Spectral, Exposure, etc)....
