I use lightroom classic CC and Photoshop CC. Since the latest update, whenever I want to edit a picture in PS straight from LR (Photo/Edit in/...) most of my commands are greyed out in PS. However when I just open a picture in PS I have no issues.

Any ideas?

Could you show us a screenshot, showing the "greyed out" business?

Duplicate your layer and see if the commands are still greyed out with the copy selected.

Here is what happens when I right click on the layer, or when clicking on filter
I can drag the layer to "new layer" and create a copy..

So it ONLY happens when PS is started from within LR. It doesn't happen when I jsu topen PS and open a picture, or when PS is already running and I open a picture in PS through LR..
Atleast there is a work around

Pretty strange. I just ran those scenarios and I don't see any difference in behaviour in PS from one to the other.

Just to be safe, can you do this (external link) for us?

I have to say, though, that the last PS update has been the most buggy in recent memory. SO many people reporting SO many different problems.

This bug is reported in several forums and acknowledged by Adobe. Fix will come someday. In the meantime, others claim that if you launch Photoshop before you launch LR, there is no problem.

What happened with public beta testing, quality control and all this old fashion stuff? Just because I am 'renting' software, I don't need new features six times a year. I need tools that work and not a stream of new shiny tinsels and glitter. And its by no means just Adobe (I am looking at you Microsoft!)....
O.k. rant is over - feel better. Carry on....

I can confirm that if you start PS first, there is no problem.

Thanks

I just tested with my system and with the latest versions of both LR and PS everything is working normally. If I were you I would reinstall both programs to see if that fixes it.

As I remember there was something about this problem on Lightroomforums. Evidently the problem is in Ps 20.0.1 and is known by Adobe.
