I tend to always go for Corsair and Crucial but there are plenty of good choices.
Anyway, I'm finally eyeing a new build. I'm still running this i7 build with a few minor upgrades: Shortly after I built it I added a Crucial 256GB SSD (forget the model). In more recent years I've upgrade to a Noctual 120mm air cooler, added a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO, and I've been running an EVGA 1070FTW for about two years now.
I've been patiently waiting to achieve my goal of more faster cores, not just faster cores or more cores. With the pressure AMD is putting on Intel I figure I'll be looking to make that jump about a year from now. I'm expecting an entirely new build as I'll want to replace hard drives (they'll be 6.5 years old at that point and I need more space), consolidate SSDs, and take advantage of some ergonomic improvements in cases, etc. I'll probably also consider a new card if the new 11 series nVidias or newer AMDs are out by then as my 1070FTW will be three years old.
Needless to say, I don't expect it to be a cheap build and I'll probably need to be budgeting nearly $2k to do things how I'll want to do them. Oh yeah, hoping RAM comes down in price by then too. I can't believe 32GB of RAM now, or at least the modern equivalent to the 32GB I bought back in 2012, costs more than twice as much as I paid then. That's just insane.
