Oddly enough they look about 100 times better posted here on the forum than on my PC. Hmmm....

Cheers.

both OLY and the Sony look great on my computer. Were you using the 300mm on your OLY?

SX10is, S90, d5100 (35mm1.8, 18-55mm, 55-200mm), d750 (28-300mm, 50mm 1.8, 35-70mm 2.8, 24-120mm f/4, 85mm 1.8G), EOS-M5 (EF-M 15-45mm, 18-150mm, EF 40mm 2.8), RX10mk4

Yes. I took those shots within minutes from each other, swapping camera back and forth. Similar aperture, ISO and shutter speed.

What bugs me is that the OLY RAW files look fine in ON1 2018 raw processor even without doing anything to the file, while the Sony files look really rubbish. From what I see here is that the forum importer adds things to it out of my control.

I'll put up a test web site to download the original RAW files later this evening. Maybe this will allow for a better evaluation, because I need to figure out if this camera is a keeper.

Though the OLY 300 is a fine sharp lens, I am not a prime lens guy and I love zooming without running back and forth...

Cheers.

Can't see much difference here. They both look nice and sharp, maybe one is slightly focused on the post rather than the bird, but they look fine.

Very cool. It reminds me of resort pool -- a few too many swimmer but an impressive display.

If you feel like providing fun, throw the RAW files on a sharing server and let us play with them.

Maybe the raw processor for Sony raw files is not as good, try shooting jpegs and using the same processing program on them. I don't have a sony raw processor and only use jpegs so I can't help you with a raw processor.

OK, this was a really long day for me thus so late to respond.

Here you go: http://www.orionhitek.com/OLYvsSony/index.htm (external link)

I am mostly interested in the RAW quality comparison between my files and your files and which RAW processor you were using.
I assume most will be using LightRoom. I am curious to hear from you all.

Cheers.

Well, you may have noticed my screen name around here? I have it for a reason, I like being in full control and feel jpeg is too limiting....

Cheers.

The Sony links on your page throw 404s. They need modification to change orf to arw. Some long days are like that for me too.

Both the Sony and Oly files look very good using ACR 11.0, nothing even close to rubbish.

I'm not familiar with ON1. Might it be using a preset? Perhaps they have an update that works better for your arw files?

Thanks for checking. My QA department had failed me last night...no production move without proper QA, you know? :p

I think I figured the issue out. ON1 renders in ON1 standard. I changed it to ON1 CAMERA standard and now it looks as it should.

I keep testing this camera and will post here from time to time.

Cheers

That MUST be a captive bird you befriended and taught to pose while you arranged the lighting. The MUA did miss two stray feathers.

Probably could have been a little sharper but both were shot thru a car window and cropped a bit

Just a little info on post processing on the jpegs out of this sensor. The 1st is the original jpeg and the second is what I (a novice) could pull out of the jpeg image using gimp. The picture was a quick grab from my vehicle "on the fly".
