The day I was dreading has come. I have lost Fanci, my devoted friend of 15 years. Everything hurts so bad because she was so deeply ingrained in my everyday activities; everything I see reminds me of her and re-opens the wounds. She was by far my favorite photo subject and, even though it killed me to do it, I had to take one last photo. She didn't make it to January 1st (which is the day of her traditional maroon blanket photo) so this is the last version of the traditional photo. I had to bump the ISO way up because I was trembling so bad.

Rest in peace my sweet Fanci.

Rest in peace Fanci.
I feel your pain and sorrow and as most pet owners of their beloved fur babies will also. My sincere condolences and sorry for your loss.

Just 2 Decembers ago I lost my best friend Zak, only 6 and a half years old, due to heart failure. He died in my arms at home and I'll never forget it.
A year later, his best frizbee playing friend, Remmy a Doberman, died in my arms on the football field he loved to chase and play frizbee on. He was a little over 6 and a half years old also and died of heart failure. Terrible memories.

A better memory of my buddy Zak. It was very common for him to climb up on those he loved and give hugs and kisses until you couldn't take it anymore!

May she Rest In Peace. The spirit lives, as long as it is remembered. I think you will remember her a long time.

Such a powerful image and the blanket speaks volumes of your love. Peace, when the grieving is done...
