I was walking along the trail then looked up and saw the hawk not more than 20 feet from me. He did not seem to mind my presence there so I just stood and took a couple dozen shots :-) For the last few shots I turned the camera vertically to get a full portrait view. That was when he decided to bolt. I was lucky to get him fit across the width of the photos (all of these were taken in vertical format. I cropped them to horizontal format for composition).
