Posting on behalf of my wife as she tends not to use the computer much outside of work - Whilst I was covering another event Cory kindly covered the Brands Hatch race for me - hence them being hosted on my site and not hers yet. She is still getting her head around the whole 'super tele' way of working but I think she has picked it up really well.

I recently switched to Sony and as much as I love this lens im going to have to let it go. While I am able to focus using the metabones adapter its not very reliable especially on the long end. So heres my last few posts it was great sharing with you guys. I figured id post something other than birds lol.

Been working with the dock a bit to get this lens dialed on my 7Dmkii. It seemed good on my 5Dmkiii but a little off with the 7dmkii at 500mm and 600mm.

* Canon EOS 7D

Aperture F7.1
Focal length 600.00 mm
ISO 640
Exposure time 1/1600s

Love how this lens turns backgrounds into butter. Not disappointed at all!

That's one of the advantages of that wide front end; less DOF from the same subject distance.

Even if a 600/6.3 was much softer than the G2 wide open, it still has going for it, and you still get less subject noise on the same sensor with the same shutter speed, and from the same distance, as with a 400/5.6.

Never laugh at a large aperture. Provided you like the shallow DOF it affords from any given distance, it also gives you more subject-photons, even if the f-number is higher than a shorter focal length option. F-numbers combined with shutter speeds determine the amount of photons you get from a solid grey wall with no sense of FOV or scale; not photons from a subject at a given distance! Sometimes f-numbers are the wrong thing to think about. They are very real for AF ability, or doing the exposure triangle for a manual exposure, but not directly relevant to subject light capture; in any given millisecond, the number of photons coming through the lens and headed towards the sensor is proportional to how big the lens' entrance pupil looks to the subject, as an angle (ignoring distance).
