I witnessed yesterday 2 kingfishers about 10 metres apart staring each other out and adopting this posture whilst bobbing up and down. They were also screeching at high pitch at each other. I googled this when I got home and found that it is a threat posture for dominance of a female or boundary. If neither opponent backs down such aggressive posturing may lead to fights. It turned out that the other kingfisher backed down and flew off.

I was very lucky to see not 1 but 2 Female Black Redstarts on a beach at Clevedon (N.Somerset). Although both females 1 was much lighter than that of the other.

I observed an unusual behaviour of this buzzard pulling worms out of the ground almost like a blackbird would. I can only think that the night before was very heavy rain that brought all the worms to the surface and so was easy pickings.

This Water Rail at Slimbridge got so ridiculously close I have to move away from it to get it completely in the frame. Not often you have to do that!.
