If you've ever spoken to any skilled auto tech they will say "better tools makes life easier". You can have identical talented photogs. One uses lesser gear and the other uses flagship gear. Analyzing images a client would not be able to comment on composition or captures of smiles. However in low light it would be quite apparent what gear lacks in high iso performance vs cleaner files in the same challenging light. "Talent is talent" but gear acquisition and IQ based on hardware is also a part of overall IQ.

So we're just going to skip over all the questions and points I made again? Cool, thanks.

You can't buy your way into having better shots, but keep trying, the rest of us will keep shooting our inferior cameras and booking clients.

Now, the below... what...?

Using sliders in LR the canon and Fuji seems to open up shadows more given the same increments over a Sony file. Sony does seem more resistant in looking canvas but Fuji and canon can easily fall to that look especially if you uplift shadows.

If you open up shadows in landscape photography with Sony its very resistant in becoming painterly/canvas. My canon and XT2 in bright sunlight landscape with hard shadows can open up well but can look more artistic than reality. However minimizing aggressive shadow slider keeps my Canon and Fuji less painterly due to more contrast.

In overcast days or low light / sun scenarios canon and Fuji do not easily turn canvas/painterly. Sony is very resistant even in extreme non ideal bright colours lighting. Raw files feel so different between the 3 systems.

Literally all of this is in your head.

What now surprises me is why anyone would choose Nikon or canon in the mirrored world. If both are identical in the look it now confuses me. Both seem to be different in colour science but now 2018 YouTube is saying it’s stricltly white balance discrepancies?

This indicates that all colour channels are almost identical across the board. This will mean I am selling my Fuji gear as it serves no purpose. However in Lightroom Fuji calm colours appear vs the more vivid aggressive nature I see in Sony as I import and see in the develop tab.

People choose Nikon over Canon or Canon over Nikon largely over lens selection, ergonomics, menu systems, etc.

Since you clearly don't prefer your Fuji over your other two systems, why do you keep shooting it and buying more and more stuff for it? Further, why do you have to have the same lens selection for all 3 of your kits? I flat out don't get it.

No personal dig required or perhaps you should read forum rules. I have a confident portfolio and gear is only a part of the equation. If a camera works for you that is a great tool kit for you.

Not understanding the question of my personal monetary expenditures on gear acquisition.

everyday lucas,

One of many threads regarding painterly effect.

Perhaps its simply due to the fact that i must buy Capture 1 specifically for my Fuji gear as Adobe LR cannot handle Fuji RAW that well. Maybe that is the case....

Damned if I’m not going to go lugging the 3kg of the other camera about in that case.

There was no "personal dig" in my post. All I did was point out the very argument that you yourself were making, I made no comment on what I think of your work (I think much of it is good, btw). You have stated on numerous occasions (the past couple of pages included) that you buy gear to stay ahead of the curve, thus a logical interpretation would be that you're "buying your way to having the better shots"... I'm calling that out as a fallacy. You continue to belittle those who acknowledge that even if there were a giant chasm in quality between FF and APS-C (there isn't), it isn't necessary or worth it to create beautiful photos for yourself or a client (which is obviously true).

As for your other point; I never saw this "painterly effect" with Adobe's products either, but you can blame it on whatever you like.
