This is why I probably wouldn't like the A9. Way too many keepers to choose from. That, and I tend to be a pack-rat and hate to throw anything away...my hard drives would fill up pretty fast.

I meant 1 of 10K+ bierds, not files :)
Though the a9 racked up a bit over 3200 images over three days there.
Then it got a rest for a week while the A7Riii did its landscaping role.
I used the RX100v a lot for simple snaps along the way-images for me that won't make it to Flickr or here.
Lots of video with the little camera too.....and in that vain the RX100vi should arrive tomorros.

Valuable input. Yep, that’s a huge downer. I’ve read that my nearest city, Columbus, GA, is a no-fly zone too (because of Ft Benning?). Also they’re banned from all the Georgia State Parks that I’ve visited. And the restrictions just keep coming.

I think I’d be OK with a drone at my local COE lake and it could give me some fresh viewpoints in my quest to find new images there, but overall the restrictions definitely curb my enthusiasm when it comes to drones.

one word regarding restrictions,,,,, "nolimitzdronez" haha, they sell modified software getting rid of all restrictions, say goodbye to no-fly zones and to height limits and u can activate the drone annonomysly, i was on the fence for a drone and i am so glad i got one, the doors it opens are limitless and u get a point of view no still camera can ever get, they are priceless in my opinion, in the right hands the images are stunning and the new mavic 2 has such incredible features.

Been hiding out my outlaw self in the fake Ol’ West in Red Dead Redemption 2 (among other virtual worlds). :-P

Yeah, I don’t know why you’d want to keep the Loxia if you’re really enjoying that GM. Just looks like an absolute grand slam of a lens from Sony imo.

For my part the only lens I’d swap my Loxias for is a 16-35 GM...and I might just do it too. 16-35’s are just unbeatably practical for landscaping. Heck, I’ve even thought about switching off to just a 16-35 GM and a 100-400 GM...could do just about anything I want with a simple 2 lens setup like that.

The other lens/camera thing wildcard option is sticking with what I got, but adding a Mavic 2. Been wanting a drone a long long long time and and the Mavic 2 seems like it checks off all the items I’ve been wishing for in a drone. I’m carefully watching this space to see how Alfredo and Eddie (you get one too?) get on with theirs.

David, I've been enjoying my MP2 a great deal. I have logged almost 2 hours flight time on 9 flights. I have enjoyed the new perspectives the drone has presented. The camera on the MP2 is quite good and the features such as hyperlapse and the other intelligent flight modes are so cool. I think you would be happy owning one.

Whoa...gorgeous image Alfredo.

Thanks for the drone encouragement. Even if I only used it out at the lake it still might be worth it to me. Will be thinking about it and watching your work over the next few weeks. :)

Thanks guys! It's a beautiful historic building. I can't wait to process the images from inside the cathedral.

Yes no problem David. There are many places out in the rural areas where you can fly. I'll keep posting aerial shots as I get the opportunity to fly more. Eventually, I'll work towards my 107 cert. Lots of reading and learning to do before then.

Imagine shooting a vertical panorama of a tall structure using the Mavic 2 Pro. No keystoning to correct. :-)

Take this last trip 99% of our target areas were either Nat. Parks, Nat. Mon's, wildlife refuges, etc. Can't drone in any of those places.
.

That sucks! What better place to fly a drone than national parks. I am glad that for once our laws have not got crazy on that

 :p

It’s a Sony sensor inside, so that should allow me to point in this thread.

The lenses are pretty substantial, but not heavy. Waiting for the charge to finish and going out to dinner right now.

Congrats, and nice setup!

I know that feeling all too well...2018 racked up just shy of 40K RAW files...trying to learn how to shoot birds is responsible for a large % of those.

This one is just about as close to SOOC as I ever get...only adjustments were bringing down the blacks by -5 and DeHaze up by +5...and a crop. The light on the mountain was intense!
