THE PILGRIM'S SUNSET

A chance capture with an SX40 on the way home one night in western France. The road runs alongside an ancient pathway that eventually leads to Spain and Santiago de Campostela. The spire in the setting sun belongs to the church of Saint-Pierre de Marennes, the tallest in the Charente Maritime, and a homing beacon for fishermen far out at sea.
