Hand held or you use some kind of focusing rail?

Thanks all for the comments :)

Brain has robotic arms, he just won't admit it. How many stacked images did it take for each finished image? I still cannot do handheld stacking no matter how hard I try.

Have you ever thought of teaching your technique online on one of those platforms like Craftsy? Their macro photographers don't hold a candle to you or the other POTN talent.

BTW, this is Racquel (user reneethomas) waiting patiently for a moderator to contact me and help me get into my old account.

Hi Renee. Most of the stacks (except #4) took about 7 to 10 shots. When I do stacks like this I'm normally resting the camera lens on my left hand which makes holding the frame steady and making small incremental moves towards the subject fairly easy.

Seriously, have you considered doing a video or even static image tutorial? I still think you are a synthetic human of some sort ;-)a being able to stack hand held, that many images. I wouldn't be able to hold it close to the same part of the subject for that long to take enough images to successfully stack. Unless the stacking software is incredibly forgiving and can reposition images easily, which I doubt.

Also please tell me this is shot inside under controlled conditions. If not, can you freeze time too? I know here in NM I am lucky if I can get one shot off before a "breeze" snatches my subject right out of my frame. It's like a sick game sometimes watching the flower sway back and forth waiting for a 2 second pause in the wind to click the shutter.

The shots were taken inside with the flower on a glass tablemat :)

Well I feel a little better knowing that but not much. I will always be in awe of your ability to handhold image stacking.

Back to the Fuchsia,,, Sorry Brian had to say it :-P . Wonderful series mate. Handheld stacking is out of reach of most of us mere mortals.
