Caved and bought one of these bad boys. I rented it last fall and loved it but felt it was a bit too heavy. Now when I shoot the f/4 version though, I long for the 2.8. Should have it Monday.

Love this lens!
I had the "base" F4L, and it was great outside, but the 2.8 II is QUICK and sharp - both kids play volleyball - so the F4 just couldn't cut it. I don't mind the weight, get used to it - I take it with me on all of my trips (most recently to NewYork, Israel and Cuba) - glad I had it with me everytime!
