White admiral butterfly on goldenrod. This is actually a focus stack of 10 images (taken during a macro photography workshop in Michigan a few years ago.)

Painted lady on aster in my garden during the big irruption of 2017.

Tiger swallowtail on coneflower in my back yard this past summer.

Can't go wrong with some monarchs nectaring on blazing star during migration. This is in a garden bed right next to my front door.

Btw if you like taking photos of butterflies, I suggest that you plant a native plant garden. Great way to have a photo studio right in your own yard!

I love this one. A butterfly's proboscis isn't usually long enough to reach the nectar in trumpet-shaped flowers, but this one has found a way!

Hopefully spot some Chrysalis soon.
