Question for Charlie (or anyone else that can help) - since you shoot a lot of family footage can you advise what FPS I should use. I have 4K @ 24, 30 or 60. I understand that 24 is cinematic and 60 is super smooth but confused as to what one I should use? Do I just use 60 as it’s the best quality? Video is confusing!
What do you find yourself shooting and how much post do you do? With Sony I used 24, mainly because the 30 crops in. They don’t do 4k60 yet. With my Z6 I used 4K30 since there’s no crop like on the Sony does. 4k30 allows me to shoot with 1/60 shutter speed which allows me to shoot indoors at a lower iso. When I shoot 60, I need to shoot at 1/125 but indoors sometimes it’ll raise my ISO too high for my comfort.
Today took my daughter to a ninja gym which was dimly lit for the first time and shooting 4k30 and 1/60 allowed me to keep it at iso2000 or so indoors. If I boosted it to 1/125 I would’ve probably been closer to 6400 at times.
Also if you’re like me and shoot a lot of video but don’t edit it, 30 is good to use. 60 will give you the flexibility for slow mo, but if you don’t edit much, it’ll be for not and just add to your file size.
