Is this an obligatory rule in this forum? I thought it is a personal preference whether someone wants to use the MultiQuote option.

It's not but helps enormously since some comments are not "attached" to a particular image and I sometimes wonder what the heck is that comment about. The "reply" feature is extremely useful as it displays the original image link to which the reply is related.
Does this make sense?

Please, properly quote the post you are replying to so we can all follow just what you are commenting on.

When you want to reply to a single post, click Quote button. If you want to respond to multiple posts with one reply, then click the MQ button on each post but be sure to click Quote on the last post to have them all combined to one.

For example, I clicked MQ on the 1st four of your posts, then I clicked Quote on the last one. As you can see it combined my response all into this one post.

The top right of each post is a direct link to the actual post replied to.
MultiQuotes are very good, and I use frequently, but the option to click that link is also good, useful.

Edit. Missed your post Renata. Doubling up by me!

You can always see the original post referenced in the top right hand corner. Like in this post.

Multiquote displays the reference below the comment. It does not necessarily display the image from the original post.

Only the placement of the reference is different, nothing else.
In my opinion it is personal preference and everybody is free to use whichever they want.

Beautiful model and DOF! Gotta love the 85L

I can see how things get mucked up when browsing and commenting on multiple posts now. I didn’t think all of my comments would wind up grouped together as they did! I remember busting on someone who did the same thing last week but I thought they were doing it just to be obnoxious. Thanks for the tutorial on combining posts....I’ll try to do better next time I go on a positive comment spree....lol

i think thats only if you {reply} to the post...

if you {post to thread} i think it skips putting that reference in the upper right corner

Not really, only if you hit either "Reply' or "Quote"
And that was my point that a lot of comments are just plain posts without any reference and that is really puzzling or even bewildering.

Interesting look you achieved there... very painterly... not necessarily the most flattering way to present the subject though. I like it.
