Wow! Awesome building/lighting.

Thank you sir! That location is better for sunset but I figured I would try an early blue hour shot this morning.

I'm also enjoying your photos from your trip. Very impressive.

---------------

After getting that blue hour shot, I drove to the other part of town and flew my drone as the sun rose over the city. The edit is a bit of a departure for me but it was a fun edit.

Sony images with more film like simulation like Fuji.....

I've always described how Fuji has a soft easy on the eyes render as Fujifilm is a digital "film simulator" company.

I've discovered the opposite use of LR dehaze to "soften" an image.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuOg2opWqvM (external link)

approx 3:30 min into the vid he mentions film look.

Now utilizing the dehaze slider I've just discovered how to tweak my Sony and Canon files to modify it's render. My baseline is -10 on the slider and tweak to taste. To a degree applying negative to the dehaze slider I must correct the exposure to a degree.

I've found for portraits Sony has been incredibly real to life. This is not a negative thing but it doesn't have that cooked soft pixie dust post process look I can easily get with my Fuji camera. I've been using my Sony a lot more lately as the eye AF and sensor performance is a joy to use.

I've been playing around with this and just by manipulating dehaze and the exposure slider it does change the feel of my Sony files.

Just thought some of you may find this interesting in something to try out while tweaking Sony files.

Nice view. With your drone, you don't need to find a parking garage or tall building to get this kind of viewpoint anymore.

Those edges would have my OCD on high alert, endlessly dicking with the image and second-guessing whether or not I had perfectly level.

Made it to the famous Jackson Street Bridge this morning for some sunrise pictures. Didn't get the cloud coverage or colors I was hoping for, but I might head back for sunset!

Last night, I remembered that I was supposed to bring a pie to a family gathering tomorrow, so I had to get my act together and make/chill the dough overnight and take care of the rest today. That said, I hope that pecan pie continues to prove to be unfamiliar in MN - while it's great for people recognize and appreciate my efforts, I'd rather just bring half of it back home for myself. :D

I ordered the Sigma 105mm F1.4 that's why i'm selling my 85GM. I can't wait. the review of the Sigma is really good in terms of sharpness wide open. The main thing for me though is the focal length.

Vinz you know I don't do portraiture.
Please explain why 105 is better than 85.
Wouldn't you have to get further away from the model?
I thought you wanted to get close to them for communication.....

One of my priorities for 2019 is to document more of the family. I say that every year, but get burned out of gigs that I don't want to touch my cam any more when I don't need to.

I think compact gear is the solution. Osmo pocket is the video solution. On the photo end, I wish I still had the rx1rII. I'll acquire another one day, but I spent a bit of time with the OG FE 35 f2.8. I think this lens gets a bad wrap. Not the sexiest of lenses, but very sharp with great colors. It's not the rx1rii or the FE 35 1.4, but its really compact, fun to shoot with, and when you get past all the mental blocks about the max aperture , its a very capable little lens.
