Yes Foxes tend to tear their faces up big time.. Fur is an art Matt, much like feathers but different... getting the detail between the hairs and get as little noise as possible is the trick. For the close shots especially.

About as good as I could get from the 7DII.. 5 minute processing job.

Nice shot....I think Im going to have to get wild animal hair and bird feather sharpening lessons off you as your sharpening techniques are unbelievably good ....I just cant come anywhere near your sharpening style no matter how hard I try!! :)..Especially getting the sharpness right where theey are sharp but never look over sharpened........ thats the killer :)

Cheers

Thanks Clipper... Thats exactly how I wish them to be perceived... sharp but not over sharp... With the R I find I'm having to back off my normal processing.. it has a different look in the 30mb file and the full sensor. I love the detail in the white with the R... Hopefully this next week or two I can do more...

100% crop, any constructive criticism with the edit would be appreciated. As I'm posting this I see the ghosting around the beak.

Here we go again, lovely image, awesome sharpness, subjects on the doorstep. Green with envy!!
I notice you are using the 70-300. What was wrong with the 100-400? Perhaps it was a matter of what was to hand at the time.
I wonder how long it will be before the 7DIII is released - if ever. Maybe it will be a crop version of the R?

They were doing touch and goes at the airport and I was on the tarmac next to the runway. He was about ~15’ off the ground.

Note the 100-400 lens on my harness.

Really nice images in the forum so far from this lens, i started to think about getting this lens even i don't shoot at all, but i don't know if it is good with 5D4 which i don't have or 7D2 which i don't have either or 1DX2 which also i don't have.
