I haven't sold to them, but I've purchased two lenses... and I'll never buy from them again. The first one arrived in significantly worse condition than described. The second lens was entirely different than the one pictured: two years older, missing accessories, and with a crack in the small glass screen on the side of the lens body.

I have had a completely different experience than Smmokan, The first lens I purchased from them was a Canon EF 85L f/1.2 absolutely no problems at all.
The 2nd transaction was a trade in of a Canon 50mm f/1.4 & £300 for a Canon EF 135mm F/2. My last purchase was for a Canon EF 500mm f/4 L IS (Mk1) for £3250. In each case I recall I got a 30 day or 3 month I can't remember which guarantee. I remember asking for a discount on the 500mm and I got £150 off. Also In each case they arrived within 2-3 days special delivery. I would not hesitate to use them again although I haven't done so for a couple of years.

Purchasing the 500mm worked in my favour because Brexit caused all Canon Lenses to go up including 2nd hand prices. I kept the lens for 2 years and used it almost every weekend and sold it for more money on eBay than what I payed for it. I know people also that have used mpb and not had a problem selling to them only because bad experiences selling privately to the public on e-bay.

I sold an Olympus E-M1 to them earlier this year and it went well. Within two days of them receiving it they looked over the camera and approved payment, then I believe it took another two business days for the payment to come through. I think they sent it through PayPal but I don't remember exactly.

I’ve never sold to them but purchased a couple of lenses and a camera body. All came exactly as described and two of the three included extras like the original box and accessories that weren’t mentioned on the sales page... so I’ve been pleasantly surprised and happy with all my mpb purchases so far.

I’ve purchased multiple bodies from them, great in the past but my latest body was wayyyyyyy off, negotiated 100 off, but not entirely happy that the body was misrepresented. I’ll buy again, but talk with someone beforehand.

I've purchased from them, mostly my medium format stuff and everything has looked and worked flawlessly. I personally wouldn't hesitate in buying from them again.

I've had a very bad experience with them.

I traded my Canon 1D4 for a 1DX a couple of years ago. The 1DX was advertised as having about 60K activations. Once the shinty season started (and the 1DX was no longer covered by their guarantee which I think is 3 months) after about 1000 images (sometimes even before 1/2 time) the camera just wouldn't take any more photos (I typically take 2 - 2.5k photos per match). The shutter would not actuate - sometimes I'd get an error, sometimes not. I sent it in to CPS and they called me to say that the camera had about 320K activations but they could not find anything wrong with it without emulating my conditions. I called mpb but they would not take any responsibility for it and, after getting a tax rebate, sold it at a huge loss and bought a brand new 1DX2. I will never buy a second-hand camera again and will never do business with mpb.

Fast cameras in general make me nervous. Fast cameras rack up shutter super fast, and it's a simple part of life.

False advertising, though, isn't.

Yes, if they said 60,000 actuations, and Canon reported over 300,000, it most certainly is.

I'm surprised that you weren't able to pursue legal action. I'd think that all you'd need to do is to present documentation that the camera had 300,000 actuations at the time that you received it from them, and they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Of course, if you didn't have a problem until three months after they sent you the camera, then I'm not sure what one could reasonably expect them to do.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Thanks, Tom. I bought it in the winter and the season starts in March so the 3 month warranty was definitely up by the time I was using it for sports. It was fine for single shot use. Long forgotten now!
