Not sure why but all the pictures posted from the R so far have a certain quality to them. Looks good whatever the cause.

Now, it looks like that dog drank just a bit too much tequila :-) or at least the last time I saw eyes like that, drinking too much was the cause. Reminds me of the morning after.

Yes they do have a unique quality to them. I find so far that they need zero processing in most cases. AF is spot on with the RF and EF lenses via adapter. Weather and my schedule have not allowed me to get outside since getting the R, getting a bit of cabin fever.

REALLY happy with this camera to the point I am seriously considering selling my 5D4.

He was half sleeping, I think I caught him as he was just opening or just closing his eyes. I would never give my dog tequila, he is a mean drunk ;-)a

Not a mini, purebred Aussie. On the smaller side about 40lbs. The other is a Border Collie/Aussie mix. “Sheila’ and “Dingo”

Not that impressed. Very little detail in the aircraft, or anything really.

Ouch! What were you doing AF-wise?

I was using it (the AF)

I am, of course, jesting. :-) Hot day, light breeze only, any subject beyond spitting distance will be lost in the heat haze.

Yeah. That heat haze is a pita. Could have been a good opportunity to test the manual focus peaking ;)

A couple of Dragonfly's-in-flight from this mornings outing at the Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane.

Tough critters to get in the frame let alone get a sharp shot...

Cheers

Dennis

So another anecdotal bit about IBIS vs Canon's way - On Christmas morning I was doing video with my A7R3 w/ Zeiss 35mm and my EOS R w/ 24-70 f/2.8L II. The Canon was hands down more stable than the Sony. I really love this camera.

I want a 16-35, but I'm going to hold out for the RF version (hopefully it's in the next round.)

Nicely done Dennis.

I'm interested to know what the camera was like in that situation. I've seen so much about the slow FPS and poor tracking but on the contrary side, much has been said about its quick autofocus.

I've just been gifted a 100-400 Mk II and am considering dumping both my 7D ii, 6D and original Tamron 150-60mm for the R, primarily for the focus accuracy. I really don't want to invest any more funds in my camera gear but this would give me enough to trade.

I do like taking pictures of birds in flight and things like dragonflies but I think I am willing to trade that for in focus shots of stationary/slow moving subject (like my family)...I get so frustrated by the inaccuracies of my current setup, I do have a nasty habit of shooting closer to wide open most of the time.

It'd be nice to have a one fits all camera. I had a terrible experience with an a7r and no way I'm ever going that direction again...
