Following a morning bushwhack off trail looking for big redwoods, some "run & gun" of the autumn redwood forest. It was more windy than I prefer for photos, but I couldn't drive out without a few keepsakes for the day. Aside from the wind, the look of the forest was at its best.

That looks like a painting! Fantastic.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Stone, Steel, and Glass.

Is that a view from the Newseum, by any chance? I took a shot a while ago that looked awfully similar.

No, it's a shot I took in San Francisco from the Salesforce Transit Center roof park.

Here is the shot that I took from the Newseum in DC. Somewhat similar looking, which is why I got confused!

Thank you.

Just got back home to Medford Oregon, after pruning for a few days up north in Portland. On my drive home this afternoon, I was already wondering whether to return to the redwoods next weekend or the week after. The rain has returned to the coast redwoods, and the wet seasons really offers a better look to capture in photos.

With the 5DS and Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 (1st generation) ...

I'm curious if this lens will start working with my Canon EOS R. I get the lens back tomorrow from Tamron with a Live View firmware update that was tweaked more along the lines of a bug with the 5D mk iv, but heard it may help with the EOS R ...

This is not one of my best shots with this Tamron. But prior to buying, a photographer from Seattle showed a comparison test that it was sharper than the Canon version, although he was added he only tried one copy of each. I've been pondering whether to get Canon's 70-200mm 2.8, but this Tamron has been very reliable.

Just for the sake of example, here's another shot from the same day, same woman, same Tamron lens, cropped 100% with no adjustments.

a fairy wren from last week. The 5DSR coupled with the ef400 f2.8 MkII is so good on the Image Quality front. The end result Image with this combo is so sharp that the default setting in Lightroom classic seems almost too much for it . This camera is the only digital camera where I have to do very little PP sharpeniing on its RAWs even when shooting @ very low aperture .

Cheers

Australian model Taya Brooks wearing Stello Couture dress for this editorial... Shot at the infamous Santa Monica Pier... We used construction worker Gabe as a 'prop' for the stark contrast between his and her attire... Thanks Gabe... Hehehehe... Photographed in the late cloudy morning, amongst the hustle-and-bustle of this tourist attraction... Canon 5DsR + 135L + Lee 0.6 ND and Lee 0.6 SE (Soft Edge) GND Filters (stacked)... ISO 125, f/2 @ 1/2000sec... Profoto B1 + Westcott 36" Deep Octa (high-right of model) for fill light...

Shot in a shady back yard near Eureka in Humboldt area of northern CA. One of several images for a few photos of the chains and earrings her friend makes. Forget now, but I either used two speedlites or two Flashpoint 360's, with one bare on the right and umbrella on the left.
